Life Starts Here!

Have you been waiting for life to begin?

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way. Something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid, then life would begin.

The Real You

Discover Your Signature Strengths & Find Your Flow

Positive Psychology is the scientific studying of optimal human functioning. Positive Psychology focuses on how we thrive, whether in our personal or professional lives.

As a result, Positive Psychology has been recognised by Time Magazine as:

“the single most important breakthrough in the effort to tap human potential and help people cope with modern day stress and day-to-day challenges”.

Positive Psychology studies a broad range of areas including wellbeing, values, motivation, goals, strengths, optimism, emotional intelligence and resilience. Positive Psychology can be applied to individuals, groups, and organisations.

Current research indicates that you are most likely to value a job, relationship, hobby or institution that aligns with your core signature strengths and allows you to regularly utilize them.  In fact, research indicates that one of the best ways to boost your long-term happiness is to use your strengths in new ways and situations, rather than focusing on your weaknesses.

We are moving from looking at what is wrong to looking at what is strong.

Traditional psychology focuses on helping clients through symptom reduction. This means that when the indicators for pain fade away, the diagnosis is considered successful. But there is a new perspective emerging as to what psychology can offer. Positive psychology  is a strengths-based approach that is directly aimed at offering a more comprehensive perspective of a client and his or her life circumstances. It is becoming known as an evidence-based standpoint that explores both strengths and weaknesses to achieve greater well-being and functioning.

The Science of Positive Psychology

The science of Positive Psychology looks into the habits that support a flourishing life over time and not only as passing happy moments. According to its ever-expanding research, what such a state requires are intentional activities, a way of life, that provides one steadily with both pleasure and meaning!

Our vision is to transfer to the public this cutting edge scientific knowledge and its applications in order to help individuals, communities and organizations be their best and thrive.

On the internet and in bookstores, a thousand gurus tout different remedies for human misery. How can we find out which remedies work? We need to consult one of our greatest gurus, the scientific method. Recently we have seen a dramatic upsurge in scientific studies on Positive Psychology and the science of happiness or to put it simply, discovering what makes happy people happy. Fortunately, many of these studies point to specific ways of thinking and acting that can strongly impact our sense of well-being and happiness. The resulting discoveries are enriching the practices of counselling, clinical psychology, psychiatry and life coaching.

What is Mindfulness?

In recent years, a lot of new scientific research has demonstrated the benefits of mindfulness. Fixed in eastern thought, mindfulness combines awareness of our present experience with a non-judgmental, accepting stance toward that experience.

This means noticing thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and external events as they occur and approaching them with an objective and balanced perspective.

Any time we are able to bring our attention back to the present moment after being lost in thought, we are being mindful. Mindfulness meditation helps us practice noticing when we have become lost in thought. This “coming back” is a helpful skill that plays a key role in mindfulness practice. We can also become more mindful by limiting the time we spend multitasking at work, at home, or on the move. Flow Psychology is committed to sharing mindfulness with people who have a desire to gain more control over their lives.

Understanding Your Strengths

At the heart of coaching is the establishment of a good relationship, helping clients understand themselves, and collaborating with clients in setting and working toward meaningful goals. Character strengths directly impact this work by improving the coach-client relationship.

Instead of initiating the relationship around discovering “what’s wrong” with the client, coaches can organize their assessment around “what’s strong”.

Testimonials

I have only praise for Gary at flow psychology, one of the best decisions I have made as his insight and practical ways have changed my focus from my problems and weakness to using my own strengths and changed beliefs to start having the life I want.

Stephen

I was referred to Gary at flow by my G.P. as I was suffering from very low mood and bouts of deep anger inside. This was having a very negative impact on all parts of my life. Gary was very genuine and he gave me the strength and self knowledge to take back control of my emotions and thought me how to take responsibility of how I turn up in my world. Me and everyone in my life is happier

Gareth

My 17 year old girl took one of Gary’s positive psychology workshops and to say she has a new confidence and outlook is an understatement. Well worth the money as she is now coaching the whole family
